THEME: SELFISHLY PROSPEROUS?
MEMORISE:
He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse. Proverb 28:27
READ: Luke 16:19-26
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
MESSAGE
It is a dangerous thing to be selfishly prosperous because Proverb 11:26 says:
“ He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.”
This scripture is a warning to those who hoard goods that are meant for sale in order to make inordinate profit. The Bible says such people are under divine curse. You better desist from such acts if you are one of them. Instead of giving out to the needy, some so-called rich people would rather allow their excess loaves of bread and can of milk go stale and sour, and end up in the waste dump.
The rich man in today’s bible text is a typical example of people who are selfishly prosperous. Luke 16:21 tells of how he related with Lazarus, saying:
“And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.”
If the rich man had been alive to his responsibility as a custodian of God’s blessing, Lazarus would have been fed daily with the excess from his table. Instead, he was not mindful of Lazarus’s sufferings. Apart from the lack of food in the midst of plenty, dogs also came and licked Lazarus’ sores! Why was it dogs attending to Lazarus’ and not the medical personnel in the service of the rich man? The rich man was indeed selfishly prosperous. Proverbs 19:17 says:
“He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.”
No wonder this rich man had to experience begging and agony in the afterlife. Beloved, know that the purpose of God’s blessing upon your life is to be His divine treasure, and one of your mandates is to help the needy around you. He will bless you the more when you realize this and fulfill your mandate.
The story of a rich philanthropist who helped to educate the child of a poor peasant laborer. This child later went on to invent a drug that saved the life of the grandchild of this philanthropist. The philanthropist was rich and generous. This is a very good combination. He would have lost a grandchild but for the drug invented by a child he helped educate. An adage says “one good turn deserves another.” When you pray for divine prosperity, ensure you know what you are asking for. You may not get it if you will be selfish with God’s provision in your life.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please bless me and use me to meet the needs of Your Kingdom, in Jesus’ Name.

HYMN 4: TRUST AND OBEY.
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
o Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 1:28
READ: Deuteronomy 28:1-14
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.
3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
7 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
8 The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
9 The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.
10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.
11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
MESSAGE
A major characteristic of every living thing is growth. A child that was born 5 years ago now looks like a 5 year old child, this is only normal. If an orange tree you planted four years ago is now yielding fruits this is also normal. You don’t need a miracle to grow, it is just natural. Multiplication on the other hand is a special thing. God did not tell us to grow, He told us to multiply. Other people may be growing, but we as children of God must multiply because it is a command from God. You may be wondering “How can I begin to multiply?” Notice that when God told His children to multiply in Genesis 1:28, it was a time when there was no sin and they had constant fellowship with Him.
The simple secret to multiplication is to live holy and to have God with you. Psalm 22:3 says that God inhabits the praised of His children. If you want God to be with you always, then you should live a lifestyle of giving praise to Him.
Many years ago, I was preparing for a three-day program. While I was in my prayer room, I was praying to God saying “Lord, heal the sick today, show forth your power and do mighty miracles.” Suddenly I heard God respond sharply to me, and He said “Keep quiet! What about all the miracles I have done in the past? Have you thanked me for them?” My response to Him was ” Lord I’m sorry, thank You for all the miracles you have done for us; now today heal the sick, and perform great miracles…” He suddenly cut me short again, saying “keep quiet!
I don’t want to hear any request from you for the next three days; all I want you to do is to praise Me.” This was very difficult for me because my mind was set on having the people who would be attending the program receive their miracles. I struggled with the instruction but I obeyed. After the program was over, God told me to tell my people to prepare; He said that we had been experiencing increase in our church, but that from that time forward we would be experiencing multiplication, and that has been our story ever since. Do you want to multiply? Learn to praise God regularly, and avoid sin. Taking Solomon as a case study, when he became king, he feared the Lord and kept away from sin. His only desire was to rule the people according to God’s will. There was even a time he sacrificed twenty-two thousand oxen and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep, all just to worship God (2 Chronicles 7:5). In 2 Chronicles 2:1, he determined to build a house for God and spared no expenses at all in building this house for God. All the while, he kept multiplying. He multiplied so much that silver and gold were like stones in his kingdom (2 Chronicles 1:15). However, the moment his heart turned away from the things of God, the anointing for multiplication dried up, so that by the end of his reign, he was taxing the people heavily just so that he could maintain his lifestyle.
Determine today to stay away from sin and stay in the place of worshipping God and your multiplication will be unending.
KEY POINT:
God multiplies those who live a lifestyle of holiness and praise to Him.

RCCG OPEN HEAVENS BY PASTOR ADEBOYE
OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DATE: SUNDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER 2018
THEME: AN ACCUSER OF THE BRETHREN.
MEMORISE:
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. Mark 11:25
READ: Revelation 12:10-11
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
MESSAGE
As revealed by today’s Bible reading, the devil is the “accuser of the brethren”. It is unfortunate that some people ignorantly possess this attribute of the devil. How can a person be an accuser of the brethren without knowing it? The answer is simple: when you refuse to forgive those who wronged you, you are passively accusing him or her as an evil doer. The practical implication of refusing to forgive those who have wronged you is that you become a prosecuting witness against a brother or sister. You are therefore on the side of the devil in heaven’s court litigating against your own brethren. It’s therefore wise to heed the words of Jesus in Mark 11:25:
“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”
Many professing children of God find it difficult to forgive. One wonders if such people have ever experienced the joy of forgiveness from God or man before. Unfortunately for them, the fellow they are accusing in their heart may not even know about it, or may even have settled their case with God, thereby obtaining forgiveness and justification through the Blood of Jesus Christ (Revelation 12:11, Hebrew 12:24). For this reason, Romans 8:34 asks a rhetorical question and answers it saying:
“Who is he that condemneth? Is it Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.”
May you not be found guilty of working against Christ’s ministry of intercession through unforgiveness.
Beloved, who are you directly or indirectly accusing relentlessly? Of course, he or she might have wronged you; nevertheless, the Lord is saying that you should forgive the fellow. Once you do, he or she is no longer an offender to you, and so, no accusation originates from you anymore. The reward for this is revealed in Matthew 5:7 which says:
“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.”
The good news today is that the God who is asking us to forgive and forget has demonstrated the same towards us when He through Christ forgave our sins. Have your sins been forgiven? If you have not experienced the joy of forgiveness, confess your sins today and you will receive the mercy of God without measure.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please forgive my known and unknown sins, and teach my heart to forgive others in Jesus’ Name.

HYMN 15: NEARER MY GOD TO THEE.
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!
E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer to Thee!
Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
Darkness comes over me, my rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer to Thee!
There let me see the sight, an open Heaven;
All that Thou sendest me, in mercy given;
Angels to beckon me nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer to Thee!
Then, with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise;
So by my woes to be nearer, my God, to Thee. Nearer to Thee!

DEPRESSION IS A SILENT KILLER
"Depression" is the silent killer I wanna talk about today.
It has claimed lots of lives, it has destroyed a lot in the human body, it has scattered and rendered many homes useless.
Depression is that wicked end time disease that is causing a lot of violence and unending bitterness. Depression has turned many good boys to bad devils and many good girls to wicked witches.
Depression has on its own sent people from a high level standard of living to paupers and beggars. Depression has stolen a lot of dreams and shattered a lot of destinies.
Depression has turned first class products to mere mad fellows on the streets. Depression turns a young promising chap to a street wondering vagabond. Depression will make a young flourishing girl look like an old woman whose been farming all her life, depression will turn a young high school boy an armed robber. Yes depression has taken a whole lot from humanity and its time to rise up and fight depression out of our lives and live joyfully again. Depression is what made king Saul to sort after David's life, depression is what made King David to rent his clothes and behave like a mad man, depression is what made Sampson to kill lots of souls at his death,depression is what had made Lucifer to keep hunting for souls that will join him in hell fire, depression is what made Eli to give up the ghost when he heard the news of his sons death, depression is what pushed Cain to kill Abel, depression is what made Judah's Iscariot to commit suicide, the list is endless, you can add yours in your mind, as you read the article and meditate.
Depression is another word for destruction( this is a definition from Gracedfavour's dictionary). It all depends on how depression hits you, that will determine when it finally destroys you, it hits some people like a car accident that claims life immediately(like in Eli's case),it hits some people like an incurable disease which delays before it kills them e.g cancer n AIDS. Depression in whatever form it creeps into your life is coming for just one mission, which is to destroy and kill you.
Depression is a sin, ( for the wages of sin is death) Romans 6;23, Depression is a thief and it comes just to steal, kill and destroy ( Jon10:10, depression is an enemy to humanity, it attacks both the old and the young. Depression has turned joy to pain, it has turned peace to war, it has turned love to violence, it has turned friendship to bitterness,envy,jealousy and hatred. Depression beclouds the mind and blocks the brain, it doesn't allow people to view life from a positive angle , it keeps breeding and multiplying negativity, it plants fear over every thing and deposits inferiority in the human brain. Depression is bad because it doesn't just make you fight others, it makes you fight yourself.
Depression as it is, causes heart burn, headache,indigestion,stomach ache,liver blockage, heart failure,kidney failure,varicose and spider veins, skin aging, affects the vision, causes cancer,heart attack,chest pain, asthma,severe psychological and mental derailment, various skin diseases, ulcer,infertility,poor erection, low sperm count, migraines,stroke,epilepsy,suicide, etc.....the list is actually endless, name as many diseases as possible, contact your doctor about it, and they will tell you its actually linked to depression; Having said all these, I want you to have a time out with yourself, try yo list out endless reasons why depression crept into your life, so that you can get ready to send it pa king, same way it came in, its not something to own or keep or have, discard it immediately and get your free God given life back. Yes.....its your life and you have the right to live it joyfully, happily and enthusiastically.
CAUSES OF DEPRESSION
Now the causes of depression are endless, just like the endless ways in which it attacks the human body.
1) Depression could come because of failure to achieve a particular goal, or normal failure in school, or even failure in life, the more you try, the more you fail, never give up.....once your time clicks,you'll start ticking and overcoming.
2) Depression could come as a result of separation, either from spouse, from parents, from.relatives, friends, church members, community etc ....whatever may be the case, brace-up and show the world that you're a God-carrier, therefore you birth Joy.
3) Depression could come as a result of heartbreak , either from spouse,lover,close friend, children's disappointment, death of a loved one. Dice-up and give yourself a treat, you deserve the best, life is one, get ready to live it to the fullest, with or without anyone. You don't need a backup to live your life.
3) Depression could come as a result of negligence and rejection, don't let that bother you, fill in Jesus in every vaccum in your life, you'd heart, your soul and your spirit.Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.John14:6a.

4) Depression could be manipulated into your life by enemies who wanna destroy you, when once you site it, please wake up, rush to a fast food, buy yourself a plate of icecream and chicken lap or wing, enjoy it with potato chips n ketchup , exercise more often by speaking in tongues like you're mad and that yoke of depression will be broken.
